Our History and Future

Quality Mold Shop, Inc. was built and remains established on the principles of hard work and quality workmanship that was instilled by the example and leadership of Doug Boles.  We are proud to share with you a brief outline of his life and the story of our company.

Quality Mold Shop, Inc. was built on the dreams and hard work of Doug Boles and those who worked with him.  Doug was a superior tool & die maker and entrepreneur for over 38 years.  In 1962, Doug began a Tool & Die apprenticeship at Oster’s McMinnville manufacturing plant and soon found his life’s work in mold building.  In 1976, Doug and wife Louise, taking a second mortgage on their home, founded Quality Mold.

Quality Mold Shop was originally located in McMinnville in a 900 sq. ft. garage with one bay door and about three employees. Doug quickly began to expand their business and customer base. Soon there was no room left to expand in the little garage.

In 1980, a 7,500 sq. ft. facility was constructed about 2 miles north of McMinnville, Tennessee. Over the next twelve years, Quality Mold Shop was able to expand three times to its present size of 18,500 sq. ft.

Looking Towards the Future

In October of 2005, we lost Doug Boles in an automobile accident.  Doug’s children, Lisa, Karen, Julie and Michael continue the Quality Mold tradition.

Quality Mold Shop is now certified, by WBENC, as a Woman-owned business (51% of business owned or managed by a woman).  The high level of professional designers, engineers, and toolmakers Doug surrounded himself with still work together to serve our customers. Quality Mold Shop has over 30 employees with a combined experience of over 500 years.

Quality Mold Shop continues the lead in designing, building and repairing molds. We stand committed to providing quality solutions and designs in a timely manner.
